What’s On in Norfolk This Spring
By Spring we mean April, May and June which ecompasses Easter (19-22 April this year). We have listed an array of things to do at Easter on a separate post and will not repeat them in this post. If you are planning for later in the year, please look out for our post What’s On in Norfolk This Summer.
Our selection for Spring
This exhibition, on all Spring & Summer, focuses on the 9th to 11th centuries, to illustrate how the Vikings re-shaped Britain’s political, economic, religious, social and artistic life and how Viking culture was transformed by 200 years of British contact.
A series of themed sections takes the visitor through the story of the Viking presence in England over 200 years.
The exhibition begins with Viking Homelands examining their life in Scandinavia. Raiders and Invaders explores the Vikings’ motivations for expansion abroad and introduces the culture of the Viking warrior and the first raids on Britain.
In a unique collaboration with the Henry Moore Foundation, Houghton Hall in Norfolk presents this major exhibition HENRY MOORE AT HOUGHTON HALL: NATURE AND INSPIRATION – the first significant show of the artist’s work in East Anglia. It is on all Spring and Summer.

Bill Jordan, owner of Pensthorpe Natural Park comments: “Norfolk is, arguably, one of the greatest areas for birdwatching in the UK, and the north Norfolk coast the best in the country, so it seems fitting for an event celebrating birds and wildlife to be held within the county. We aim to celebrate what’s unique about the birding and nature offering in this special part of the world.” Spring is a great time to see nature at work.
The best way to see the wildlife on Blakeney Point is to enjoy a seal trip, departing from Blakeney or Morston Quay.
